Following the killing of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and the ensuing global outrage, the Imam of the Grand Mosque of Mecca has come to the aid of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Shaykh Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz as-Sudais heaped praise on bin Salman, telling worshippers that the country supports the reform policies of the “young, ambitious, and divinely inspired” Crown Prince.

Indeed the course of reform in this blessed country, under the care of its excellent rulers, and the careful attention and care dedicated to it by the young, ambitious, divinely inspired Crown Prince (Mohammed bin Salman) of this safeguarded country. (This country) will march on with his correct vision of reform, and his sharp outlook of modernisation, despite the threats and pressures.
Any attempts to threaten, or to abort the (course) of reform are bound to fail, and will negatively effect global security, peace, and stability.
And our blessed country will continue to be a lofty leader, and the repetition of threats and rumours and unfair media campaigns, will not stop it from holding firm to its principles and values, by relying on God, and then on the wisdom of its leaders, and the cohesion of its sons.
Because God willing they are the guarantors for (successfully) confronting the false accusations and attempts that are bound to fail, and history is the best witness to this.
