Prominent Iraqi Shia scholar Sayyed Hashem al-Haidari has announced the formation of a new religious, cultural, and political party named the Ahdullah Islamic Movement.
Al-Haidari is strong proponent and advocate of the theory of Wilayat al-Faqih (The Guardianship of the Jurist), the core political theory upon which the Islamic Republic of Iran is based.
The following is a translation of a video in which al-Haidari makes the announcement of the party’s formation. The video was published days ago on a YouTube channel dedicated to promoting and transmitting al-Haidari statements and public appearances.

Sayyed Hashem al-Haidari, founder of the Iraqi Ahdullah Islamic Movement:
Ahdullah (Islamic) Movement is a religious, Islamic, ideological and cultural movement, period. Some say it’s a political (movement), in fact it is – politically speaking. However, this year, as everybody knows, we did not participate in the elections.
Our cause is explicitly, (speaking to all,) near and far, the present and absent (ones), to disseminate (the theory of) Wilayat al-Faqih (The Guardianship of the Jurist). It’s not subordination to Iran. Wilayat al-Faqih – when we say we believe in Wilayat al-Faqih (it means) we believe in the Wali al-Faqih (the Guardian Jurist) as a leader for the (Islamic) nation, the guardian of the affairs of Muslims. He guides Muslims (and) confronts the enemies (of the Islamic nation). Indeed, the Islamic Republic (of Iran) is (today) its right hand, but we are speaking about the guardianship (in and of itself).
We believe in the Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist and (we) advocate, promote and disseminate (our Cause) using education, information, calmness, persuasion, and (the various forms) of eloquence (to demonstrate) the idea of Guardianship, the guardianship of Islam, the guardianship of Shariah (i.e. Islamic Divine Law), the guardianship of Fiqh (i.e. Islamic jurisprudence).
The cause of the Ahdullah Movement is reviving Islam as much as we can, only through education in virtual space, be that social media, (in addition to) giving speeches and poetry on public platforms, holding (educational) festivals, (and) nothing more! And that’s the most powerful weapon. Eloquence is the strongest weapon, and eloquence is the greatest jihad (struggle) today. The enemies today are scared of eloquence, of demonstrating (the realities)!
We do not claim that the movement represents the path of Wilayah; we are the sons of Wilayah, the sons of the path of Khomeini, the sons of the Guardianship of the Jurist – (we state that) clearly – this is in terms of (our) ideology and religion. I am not speaking about law or similar issues. It’s a creed and a belief; (we believe) that this is an extension of Imamate. We promote (the concept of) Wilayah, especially in our present time, in the era of Islamic rule (in Iran), (in the era of) the (Islamic) Resistance Front, the victory of the axis of Wilayah, (and) we will not give up on this!
Indeed, the path is difficult because America won’t leave us alone, nor will the ones objecting (to our path). However, as the Prophet (Muhammad) – peace be upon him and his family – said when Amr ibn Wudd al-Amiri (of Quraysh) cleared the trench of Madinah and (challenged the Muslim camp) by saying: ‘Is there anyone among you would dare to fight against me?’, the Prophet then asked the Muslims: ‘Who would fight against Amr?’, then Ali (ibn Abi Talib) said: ‘I will fight against him’. We – from our position, following the example of our grandfather Amirul Mu’mineen (Imam Ali), are fighting against America in whatever trench, area, or field (that is required to confront it).
We only have one goal, (our) only (goal) is to please God, (by) fulfilling (our) takleef (i.e. religious duty) and nothing else. We are not seeking (fancy) cars, mansions, positions, nor the praise of people, not at all! We believe that the solution is Wilayah. The solution in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Bahrain, Hejaz – and it was in Iran – and in Palestine and the Arab and Islamic world, (the solution) is Wilayah – Islam is the solution.
One of our main goals is to hasten the Faraj (deliverance: the reappearance of the twelfth Imam, Imam Mahdi) because the dissemination of Wilayah hastens the Faraj, and it’s a form of awaiting (i.e. active preparation for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi).
